Frequently Asked Questions

Do you buy books?

While Fred Books doesn’t have a formal trade in program due to our quick turnover of inventory, if you catch Carlo or Larry when dropping off some books they are known to give a small thank you!

What happens to all the books after a sale?

After each sale we get to donate the books back into our community! We work with Stafford and Spotsylvania County public schools, Mary Washington Hospital, and many other local organizations! We also do several events where we give thousands of books away! Make sure you follow us on Facebook or our newsletter to keep up with the events.

Why are you only open one week a month?

We only open one week a month because we really do need several weeks to restock the store! Having it only once a month makes each sale special!

Do you accept books?

We do! We will make sure your books get a proper 2nd chance. Thanks to the generosity of the Fred Books community we have saved over 150,000 books from landfills in 2024

What other items do you take?

We also accept gently used DVDs, CDs, blu-rays, video and board games,  vinyl records, action figures, collectibles, puzzles, and more. Have a question about what we accept? Feel free to reach out.

My company/organization could really use some books. Can you help?

Definitely. Feel free to reach out to us to see how we can help.

Can I order books online?

We don’t have an online store yet but check back soon! In the mean time make sure to checkout our Whatnot Video Shopping every Wednesday at https://whatnot.com/invite/fredbooks

Can I check your inventory online?

Unfortunately we don’t keep a live inventory, so we don’t have a way to give stock of specific items. We turnover inventory every 30 days so you never know what you’ll find at each sale. It’s part of the fun! We are constantly adding books throughout the sale and I invite you to check out our next monthly event!
